Granary was built in the 1890s when Sophia Tolstaya when Tolstoy’s wife Sophia officially became the owner of the Yasnaya Polyana estate. A tent on pillars was used to store hay and straw in the winter. In the old days thrashing machines, ploughs, and harrows were also kept here.

Now this building accomodas the museum shop in summer. where books and souvenirs are sold.
