The Shchekino railway station, located 8 kilometers from Yasnaya Polyana, is a living reminder of Leo Tolstoy's last journey. On October 28, 1910, the famous writer left his home and took the train at this station. Today, the station is a historical and cultural complex.

The highlight of the museum site is the halt platform of the Yasenki station with a ticket office and a passenger car in the style of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. In the car you can see which amenities were offered to first-, second and third-class passengers. You can also watch a newsreel of Leo Tolstoy’s visit to the Shchekino station. The guided tour in the car lasts 30–40 minutes.

The renovated station building hosts an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Leo Tolstoy. The visitors will learn about important milestones in Tolstoy's life: his military service in the Caucasus and Crimea, the work on the novels “War and Peace”, “Anna Karenina”, “Resurrection” and other works. The guided tour in the exhibition lasts 30–40 minutes.

There are two mono performances that regularly take place in the station building: "History the Tolstoys in the Context of the History of Russia" and "Unknown pages of the heroic defense of Tula in the fall of 1941".
