The Yasnaya Polyana museum-estate announces the launch of the third season of the literary club The Lion’s Share of the 20th Century. All meetings will take place at the literary café Stiva in the cultural and exhibition center “L. N. T.” The moderator and host will traditionally be literary scholar, Candidate of Philological Sciences, and Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism at Tula State University, Tatyana Bogatyreva.

The project, already beloved by Tula’s intellectual community, continues the tradition of lively dialogues about literature. In the new season, participants will once again seek unexpected parallels between Leo Tolstoy’s work and landmark texts of the 20th century, discussing classics and modernism in an informal atmosphere over a cup of tea.

“In this season, the meetings are structured so that we begin the discussions with the most existentially charged texts. And we will rest with the final stories. The previous seasons were built according to the opposite scheme. I am looking forward to seeing our regular participants, with whom we have developed a mutual understanding—which, however, does not prevent us from engaging in very emotional debates. And I am very much looking forward to new readers who will share with us the pleasure of talking about literature,” said Tatyana Bogatyreva on the eve of the season’s opening.

The third meeting of the season will take place on March 28 at 12:00 and will be devoted to a discussion of Leo Tolstoy’s short story The Old Grandfather and His Grandson and Ernest Hemingway’s A Clean, Well-Lighted Place

Schedule of the meetings in the third season:

April 25: Leo Tolstoy, Fire Dogs — Jack London, Brown Wolf.
