On July 4, 2025, the exhibition Vyacheslav Nevinny Planet opened at the Yasnaya Polyana Gallery, presented by the Moscow Art Theater Museum in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of the famous actor V. M. Nevinny.

The exhibition tells the story of Vyacheslav Nevinny, a native of Tula, and his extraordinary acting talent, iconic roles in productions of the Moscow Art Theatre, and his work in film.

“There are people who don’t try to win you over—but every time they appear, it’s a celebration, as if hundreds of bright balloons rise into the air. Vyacheslav Nevinny was certainly one of those people. As my teacher Roman Kozak said, ‘There are good actors, great actors, and then there are planet-actors.’ He was a planet.”
— Pavel Vashilin, Director of the MXAT Museum, Honored Artist of Russia

Nevinny was born in Tula on November 30, 1934. While still in school, he joined a theater club at the local Pioneer House, where he spent all his free time. He always “knew for certain” that he would become an actor. In 1955, he entered the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio named after Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, studying under V. Ya. Stanitsyn. He recalled his student years with joy and enthusiasm. In 1959, he joined the troupe of the Moscow Art Theatre, where he worked for 50 years, playing more than 60 roles on stage.

The exhibition features theatrical costumes, sketches, archival photographs, and documents from the Moscow Art Theater Museum collections. On display is the costume of Chebutykin, which Nevinny wore in Oleg Yefremov’s famous production of The Three Sisters at the Chekhov Art Theater. The exhibition also includes personal items preserved by the actor’s family.
