On weekends, we invite you to participate in workshops showcasing traditional applied arts typical of Yasnaya Polyana.

In the ceramic painting workshop, participants will learn the basics of working with paints, discover the meanings behind various patterns, and create their own souvenir by decorating ceramic blanks made by the museum’s specialists from Yasnaya Polyana clay. Options include plaques and magnets with floral or fruit motifs.

In the floral art workshop, guests will learn how Sofia Tolstaya created herbariums from flowers and grasses, explore the flora of the estate, and discover family traditions of the Tolstoys. Participants will then create their own floral souvenir under the guidance of expert artisans.

The twist-doll workshop introduces visitors to this traditional folk toy and its cultural role in Russian life. Such dolls were believed to protect the home and guide people in unfamiliar lands. Participants will learn different crafting techniques and make their own traditional twist doll.
