From December 20, every visitor to the Yasnaya Polyana Gallery in Tula has a chance to learn a new language – that of the hand fan. Before coming to our gallery in Tula, the exhibition «Language of the Hand Fan» (from the collection of Tatiana Makeeva) has already been shown in MoscowRyazan and some other Russian cities. On display, you can see hand fans made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries in different countries; there are fans form ChinaFrance, and England, fans that belonged to famous women, and also paintings and etchings.

The world of women 100 years ago – that is the main subject of Tatiana Makeeva's collection. Her interest in this subject began with her fascination for old photographs in the family album. Later Tatiana took a course in the school of the well-known Russian fashion historian and TV presenter Alexander Vasilyev; after that she began to organize exhibitions showing items from her collection. Three years ago she opened a long-term exhibition in Moscow  - «My Great-grandmother’s Corner», where the story of the middle-class woman in the late 19th-early 20th centuries is told by means of original objects acquired both in Russia and abroad. Tatiana’s other exhibitions include «Ladies’ Happiness» at the Russian Exhibition Center in Moscow and «Ladies’ Gimmickry» at the Local History Museum in Balashikha. They mostly focused on clothes, footwear and accessories of the time of Art Nouveau. Right now, another exhibition is shown in Balashikha as well, where old toys are exhibited and old games are explained – «Games and Entertainments For All the Time».
