Exhibition “Life Illuminated by Talent”
1February 14 - March 24, 2014
Local History Museum of Krapivna

The opening of the exhibition will take place February 14 at 14:00.

This Friday the Krapivna museum invites you to the opening of an exhibition of works by the technology teacher of Lycee No. 1 of the town of Shchekino, Galina Grigoryeva, “Life Illuminated by Talent.” Visitors will have the chance to see works done in a variety of media of applied arts—dough art, clay modeling, painted wood, batik, weaving, and patchwork.

The artist’s handmade dolls add an original touch to the exhibition, and have distinctive names, such as “Little House Spirit,” or “Shrovetide Scarecrow.”  Visitors will also appreciate the works of Grigoryeva’s students using the cold batik technique in a Russian folk costume, Olympic game uniform, and in a design used in kitchen decorations. These works were entered in the municipal level of the National Schoolchildren’s Competition in Techniques and won prizes.

IMG_3636Galina Grigoryeva graduated from the Pomorsky State University named for M.V. Lomonosov with a specialization in “Technology and Entrepreneurship,” and began to study and master folk traditions in parallel with the use of multimedia technologies.  Three years ago she moved from Arkhangelsk Region to Shchekino. Besides her teaching activities, she is a senior specialist in teaching techniques at the Informational and Teacher Education Center of Shchekhino District of Tula Region.  Her efforts have been recognized with honors and awards. One of her certificates was for participation and winning at the Tula stage of the nationwide competition “Best Teacher in Sochi of 2014.”  Her articles about folk art have been published in journals.
