"Yasnaya Polyana" Gallery

Opening of the exhibition on December 6 at 14:00

You are invited to the exhibition “Faces of Russia” showing all the variety of Russian nature through the eyes of Moscow photographer Andrei Lobanov.

The exhibition features remarkable photographs of landscapes of Kamchatka, Vladivostok, and Lake Baikal. Those who view it will see old wooden churches of the North, appreciate the charm of native rivers and lakes, forests and fields. The artist’s works show the middle Russian areasб too: Nizhniy Novgorod, Kostroma, Vladimir, Moscow, and Smolensk regions. The works include examples from all four seasons of the year.

Andrei Lobanov has traveled a great deal in our country in search of unique landscapes and Russian historic monuments. The goal of his creative work is a sort of heightening of one’s sense of humanity, and a lesson in patriotism – it is these qualities that are lacking in contemporary society. In contact with nature, the viewer, like the author, feels peace and harmony.

Andrei Aleksandrovich Lobanov was born September 7, 1958 in Moscow. In 1988, he changed his career from that of a marine engineer, for which he had studied in the Leningrad Higher Engineering Naval School named for Admiral S.O. Makarov, to that of a photographer. In 2001, he graduated from the photography school of the Research Cinema and Photo Institute.

The first exhibit of Lobanov’s works, “Regions of Russia,” opened in November 2003 in the Moscow City Duma. The following year, when shown at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, it was renamed “Faces of Russia.” In 2009 the government of Moscow published the photo album “Faces of Russia.”

The public company “Trust Group” supported the project “Faces of Russia” as part of its educational activity, aimed at the development and revival of historic heritage, patriotism, and national unity.
