«Spring Palette» Exhibition

March 6 - April 5, 2013
At the All Arts salon at the Yasnaya Polyana gallery

The exhibition opening takes place March 5 at 18:00 (6:00 p.m.)

We observe the arrival of spring with a colorful and cheerful exhibition of works of batik.  During the opening of the exhibition you can see dresses, tunics, blouses, handkerchiefs and shawls being worn by models, during a fashion show for guests of the gallery on March 5.

Batik is usually considered to be something exclusive, exotic, and luxurious. That is truly the case, as this art form was born in Southeast Asia and was handmade, based on meticulous work. The methods for creating such beauty were kept secret, and only aristocrats could afford dresses made of such fine decorated fabric. Over time, the means of producing batik changed, but even now this type of decoration remains a true art form.

The All Arts souvenir shop's acquaintance with works by masters of the batik technique dates back to 2001 and has evolved into the present exhibition/fashion show. The Ivanovo artists Irina Gushina, Angelina Kashina, Olga Kochetova, and Nina Korotkova use a broad assortment of drawings and artistic compositions in their spring designs.  The colors in their works range from delicate pastels to bright, saturated dies on natural silk.  In addition to women’s fashion accessories the exhibition will include batik-style paintings from women artists from Tula and Tarusa.
