«Sketches Of Krapivna», exhibition of water-colors by Sergey Sachkov

The «Sketches Of Krapivna» exhibition in the Krapivnaschool is presented by the Local History Museum of Krapivna, a branch of the Yasnaya Polyana Museum. Sergey Sachkov’s water colors shown at the exhibition belong to the collection of the Krapivna Museum.

After the show is over in the school, the water-colors will move to a different location – the local Information Center (Kommunarov st., 31) and will be displayed there from March 1.


Sergey Sachkov (born in 1955 in the city of Ryazan) graduated from the Ryzan Art School and later also the Moscow Polygraphic  College. As an illustrator, he has been working in close collaboration with a number of children’s book publishing companies for over 20 years. His professional experience also includes the design of calendars and film-strips, and work as a scene-designer in theaters of Tula, Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Moscow.

Sergey Sachkov’s works have been shown at numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. In 1998, he took part in the international exhibition «Wintersalon» in the Netherlands. Ten years later he was invited by the American publisher Prentice Adler to present a series of his illustrations in the US; later he also illustrated several books by American children’s book writers. Sergey Sachkov’s works are kept in many private collections in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Russia, and in the former Soviet republics. Now the artist lives and works in Krapivna.
