Shrovetide at Yasnaya Polyana. Tatiana Musical Group

via_tatiana

On February 18, 2018 at 15:00, the musical group Tatiana will perform at the Yasnaya Polyana Cultural Center. Graduates of Moscow musical and theater colleges will perform lyrical songs from the repertoire of legendary Soviet singers – from Leonid Utesov to Maya Kristalinskaya.

Admission by tickets. Cost of a ticket – 900 rubles. Tickets can be purchased at the Yasnaya Polyana Gallery (+7 4872 473580) and the Yasnaya Polyana Cultural Center (+7 48751 76396). Electronic tickets are available at https://yaspol.timepad.ru/event/656919/ (commission included in the cost).

The repertoire of Tatiana covers the period from the 1930s to the 1970s, and it‘s impossible to distinguish the participants in the group from heroines of Soviet films wearing pumps and or crepe de chine dresses, and with beautifully styled hair. But among them, there are both lyrical and distinctive heroines who have both coquetry and boyish enthusiasm about them. They are not nostalgic for bygone times, but rather revive a fond memory of a time when relations between people seemed clearer and simpler, and their feelings deeper and more long-lasting.

The soul of the project is the actress Miriam Sekhon (who played in such films as A Branch of Lilac and Sunstroke). In 2006, she organized, with her friends, a concert of Soviet songs for her mother’s birthday. The future second vocalist and violinist of Tatiana, Alina Maslennikova, also participated in that concert. It was she who then offered to create a group.

For over ten years now Tatiana has been performing successfully for different audiences both in Russia and abroad. One of the group’s traditions is a pre-New Year’s concert, which has taken place at the Variety Theater in Moscow for several years. The group was several times invited to the Evening Urgant TV show on Channel One.

We invite you to this concert to welcome spring and celebrate the end of one of our favourite holidays –  Shrovetide (Maslenitsa in Russian). After the concert, our guests will be offered traditional Shrovetide food, pancakes with hot tea, and also the traditional ceremony of burning the Maslenitsa figure.
