Volunteers Are Welcome!

The Yasnaya Polyana Museum invites volunteers to participate in a unique event – the restoration of Leo Tolstoy‘s fir tree plantations. Coniferous sections of the estate‘s woods planted by Tolstoy and his wife in 1864-1907 suffered from a bark-beetle outbreak in 2011-2013. Our museum will have to restore over 2.5 hectares of Yasnaya Polyana’s historic forest area. In the spring of this year, volunteers and museum employees planted 779 young firs. In September and October, we plan to plant 394 more firs, and we do need your help!volunteers
